STRESS BUSTING and FATIGUE FIGHTING TIPS

Hello!  This is Dr. Bob with another Healthy Living Tip for You!

I want to pass on to you some of DrB’s stress busting nuggets. The word stress creates different emotions to the ear/mind set of the one interpreting the situation at hand; let me give you an example. The word engagement to a young woman ready to get married usually creates the feeling of love and passion and wonderful time with her mate. The word engagement to a military person ready to engage the enemy means, be on the alert, have your eyes and ears open, all senses on high alert, I may be injured or even killed.  I know those are two extremes but, they are real.

I have some recent statistics that suggest there are now more Americans who have anger, fatigue and sleeplessness and unhealthy eating because of stress.  How about you? We all have different levels of stress that we need or are required to manage every day.  Your state of health, which is impacted by your diet, and exercise routine does impact your response.

If you are a lethargic couch potato, with little or no motivation (you probably are not reading this) you may just sit back and watch the world go by, and just get along and be unhappy with what is going on, and not be pursuing toward  making a difference in your life; on the other hand, you may be someone who is doing everything they possibly can to keep the family together, bills paid and food on the table.  How do you react and handle stress does depend on your culture, upbringing and personal motivation and self esteem.  It is all a matter on how you interpret the circumstance.

•    Fatigue – which is a common body signal of stress is often a result of Adrenal exhaustion, a common body signal is craving salt and sugar; bright light may bother your eyes, and you could get dizzy from a sit to stand position.  We use a product called ADB5® from Biotics Research Corporation to manage or assist those stressed body signals one to three a day. Thyroid burnout or sub par function is often a result of poor diet choices. Think of the adrenal gland as the fuel pump and the thyroid as the gas pedal, it is a team effort; they both can become exhausted when you are burning the candle at both ends.  We test the thyroid with various blood serum tests, and have a protocol to help restore thyroid function.   I would suggest you want to take up to 12mg of Iodozyme® a day---that is what I take. I know with the recent earthquake and radio-active scare the whole role of the importance of iodine has been in the new.  You may want to watch the You Tube videos I have on Iodine.  Increase your water consumption; up to quart a day at least.  In days gone by before “maintenance FREE” batteries we had to add water to keeping our batteries charged up.  Celtic Sea Salt® will also keep your energy up; it is the spark plug of life.
•    Sleeplessness – Calcium and other minerals are common deficient in one who is stress. We suggest calcium and magnesium right before bed.  Do you have leg cramps at night?  If you are stressed it is common to have low levels of calcium. You may notice cold sores and even poison ivy.  Stress creates an acid environment; your body will use up the calcium to create a neutral or even alkaline state.  I may suggest you would be smart to get Cal/Mg Zyme® this is the product we use to restore calcium levels, naturally.

•    Anger – ACID/ALKALINE   imbalances occur with stress.  A whole body Acid pH tends to take place when you are stressed; this is what happened in the bullet above, the acid environment uses up the calcium.  Anger creates acid and LOVE is ALKALINE. Emotions and reactions to events can greatly impact how your body responds to stimuli.  If you are in an unhealthy environment with little or no LOVE, you will find yourself in a constant state of potential poor health.

•    Unhealthy Eating/drinking focusing on Comfort food creates blood sugar stress.  We use a variety of items to take away the craving for sweets.  Do you find yourself waking up hungry at 2 to 3am? If yes, you may in fact have a blood sugar stress issue.  How many liquid carb, alcohol, high energy drinks or coffee drinks with syrup/sugar are you dumping down the hatch?  These can create a negative impact on all the cells in your body.

Positive Stress – you meet the challenge then RELAX and REST
Negative Stress – you meet the challenge then KEEP GOING/Don’t Stop. Take time to stop and smell the roses!! You need to schedule down time, refreshing time, and moments to let the body rest.

What causes your stress? Family - Finance - Work - Church - Neighbors – driving around town to all the event.  The ones listed are just a few, you may have some way out there, unless you manage your commitments, you will be the one with the low state of health because of STRESS!!

What can you do?
•    Focus on positive aspects of your life
•    Take action on your future. School, exercise
•    Realize it may have been bad, but it will get better
•    Pray, read something that you enjoy and relaxes you

What can the spine and the nervous system help you with   your stress? If you are a Chiropractic patient keep up with your adjustments, if you do not have a family chiropractor find one; now, it will be the best investment into your future.

How do Americans deal with their stress?  Music 52%, Exercise 47%, Read 44%, Time with F & F 41%, Nap 38%, Video/Internet 37%, Pray 37%, Eat 34%, Hobby 30%, Church 21%, Drink Alcohol 18%, Shop 18%, Smoke 18%

Where do you go from here?  I would minimize sweets. It is the spring time so get out and  exercise at least one half hour a day---get to bed by ten.  Drink water, eat more protein and LOVE everyone and forgive everyone else; life is too short to hold any hard feelings.  Be blessed. DrB

Dear Dr. Bob,
This came along just in time for me, I happened to glance down and there it was! (I know my Father in heaven is watching out for me all the time)

I have a question about the thyroid. I had been diagno.
sed with hypo some years ago, and I am on levothyroxine. I was on 112 and now I am on 75.

I wanted to see if I can get off the meds. I am 59 years old.
The weight gain since the meds is horrible! Since I started taking them the weight climbed, when I did not take the meds, I was a great weight!

Normally, I am a stressful-nervous person. Work, husband illness, losing our home, husband passing away a few months ago. Work demanding, and no long working there. etc. I want to relax, and be happy and love the LORD!

I try to exercize and do not want to give up trying to lose the weight.

Another question: If there were the radioactive situation in this nation, there are the potassium iodide tabs. Would that hurt me since I am on thyroid meds already? I would very much like some insight on this.

Thank you so much, Blessings
Karen Tillson

Excellent encouragement. One question I will like to ask. Does some one at 61 or so eating sweets get depression.

Dr. Bob,

I am vegan and I eat lots of green vegetables, fruits, whole grain, nuts and seeds. I am going to the doctor for her to run some tests to make sure I am getting everything I need. Is there any specific test that I should have run?
